Ms. Herb is the Junior High Band director at the Hollidaysburg Area School District and teaches 7th, 8th, and 9th grade Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble, in addition to helping with the Senior High Marching Band. Before coming to Hollidaysburg, Ms. Herb taught 4th – 8th grade band and orchestra for Northeastern Music Programs, a company in Southeastern Pennsylvania that contracts music teachers to private, parochial, and charter schools in the Greater Philadelphia Area. Additionally, she worked for the Strath Haven High School Marching Band as an assistant instrumental instructor and leadership coordinator. Ms. Herb received a Bachelor of Music Education, magna cum laude, from Temple University in Philadelphia, and a Master of Music Education from Penn State University.
In addition to teaching band, Ms. Herb focuses on research in music ensemble retention, nontraditional music ensembles, and comprehensive curriculum writing. She has presented her research at NAfME Eastern Division, PMEA, and NYSSMA Conferences, as well as through the journal Update: Applications of Research in Music Education. Ms. Herb also performs on Euphonium and Tuba with the Altoona Brass Collective and the Hollidaysburg Community Band.
